Who Are We?
Hooking for Humanity is a community-building organization that provides warmth, comfort, and support through the art of knitting and crocheting for children, youth, and families in need.
Founded in early 2023, Hooking for Humanity is a youth-led nonprofit based in Edmonton, driven by the belief that everyone deserves warmth and comfort. What started as a small group of passionate young volunteers has grown into a community-wide initiative, connecting talented knitters and crocheters with vulnerable populations in need.
Our mission is to bring warmth and joy, not only through winter essentials like hats, scarves, and mittens, but also through handmade stuffed animals for children battling illness. By providing handcrafted items to homeless shelters, family homes, hospitals, and more, we strive to make a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Run entirely by dedicated youth volunteers, Hooking for Humanity is committed to both the art of crafting and the power of community. We organize school chapters and individual volunteer efforts, ensuring that all contributions are delivered to the people and organizations that need them. Every stitch tells a story of kindness, and every item is a reminder that we can all play a part in helping others.
